Department of Humanities

In 1959, on September 1st, Garamjav D., who is an honorary professor of the Mongolian National University of Science and Technology, began the current study of Humanities in Mongolia.  He started by teaching the students in the Construction and Engineering Department of the National University of Mongolia about the history of the Communist Party in the Russian Federation.

 Origin

Some professional teachers from the Mongolian Revolution Party’s History, Communist Party of Russian Federation, Theory of Science and Communism, Science of Politic and Economic and Philosophy of Faculty of Social Science of NUM were promoted as main lecturers of Polytechnic University. This was the beginning of the School of Social Technology.

Following institutions worked in cooperation to promote the Humanities such as Faculty of Engineer and Economics, Faculty of Geology and Mining, Faculty of Society of Politic and Faculty of Basic Education of Engineer.

There were also distinguished professors from these faculties who were instrumental in promoting the study of Humanities.  Dogsom B., an associate professor and doctor (Ph.D), worked as a principal at the Faculty of History. Between 1980 and 1990, Davaadorj.Ts, a professor and doctor, worked as the principal of Faculty of Science of Politics and Economics.  Shortly thereafter the Faculty of Politics and Economics was disbanded.  However, it emerged as the Faculty of Social Sciences newly.  In 1992, Enkhbaatar A, an associate professor, was promoted as a Chair to oversee the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The above institutions and educators played a main role in helping Mongolian students obtain a more global outlook.  This perspective was reinforced on the state exams given by the Science of Politic and Economic, History of Mongolian Revolutionary Party and Philosophy. As the Faculty of Social Science began to flourish, the following educators made significant contributions:

  • Dagvadorj B., a doctor, a professor and a distinguished teacher of Mongolia
  • Byambadorj J., a doctor (Ph.D)
  • Zagd G., an associate professor and distinguished economist of Mongolia
